Phoenix has many, many golf courses.  But most are in the outlying suburbs of Scottsdale, Mesa and the like.  There are few urban courses probably because the land is much more valuable as a shopping center or condos.  But the Encanto Golf Course, built in 1935, is the 3rd oldest course in the state and remains in use today in the center of the city.

I wrote about the Loews Hotels Dog Days of Summer photo contest a few days ago.   The entry phase is now ended and voting takes place this week.  So if you are on Facebook (required to vote in this particular contest) my dog would be particularly appreciative if you voted for his picture.  You can cast one vote per day here.

I have never been to the Sistine Chapel, nor to Europe for that matter, so the image of the Chapel on this Vatican site truly amazed me.  I’m not sure if it is color enhanced or digitally improved in any way.  And I am sure it does not do justice to seeing it in person, but it is just cool to see until such time you can get yourself to Europe.
